The Parks and Facilities position performs a variety of labouring and maintenance functions for Public Works and Community Services (Recreation, Parks and Facilities), from mowing, weeding, raking, planting, snow removal, garbage removal, facility repairs, playground maintenance, wharf maintenance and a high level of customer service. This temporary position terminates when the incumbent returns to the position.
The District of Peachland Public Works Department requires two (2) Equipment Operator 2, Truck Drivers on a temporary standby basis from November 27th, 2014 to March 15th, 2015 for Night Shift Snow Plowing and Sanding. Applicants must have previous experience in operating snow removal equipment.
Hours of work will be 9 pm – 6 a.m. 7 days per week, alternating weeks. This is a CUPE Local 608 position with the pay rate of $28.39 per hour plus 15% in lieu of benefits
The successful applicant will be able to operate a single axle truck equipped with plow and sanding attachments. Job tasks include snow removal, sanding, loading trucks, and other related duties. The successful applicant will be able to operate the equipment in a safe and efficient manner as well as perform routine inspection of equipment as required. This includes such tasks as installation of tire chains or sanding attachments. You will have a working knowledge of the safe operating practices and procedures related to the machinery and will have the skill to accomplish the tasks accurately and efficiently.
