Dog Parks

Bylaw 2089 Information

PARKS REGULATION BYLAW The District of Peachland strives to provide safe, clean, and accessible parks for all users. It is the responsibility of the pet owner to ensure that they are at a pet friendly park before allowing their dog (or other pet) onto the premises. Failure to comply with District of Peachland Bylaws is a ticketable offence and may lead to a fine from a District Bylaw Officer.

Highlights of Bylaw

  • Restrict dog access (no dogs allowed) on parks with playgrounds, sports fields and designated swim beaches
  • Allow dogs on leash in all other parks and greens spaces

In the spring of 2012, Council received a request from the public to consider a dog park in Peachland. In follow up to the request, staff did some preliminary research, then Council directed staff to form a Dog park advisory committee. The committee reviewed policies and practices in other communities, visited dog parks, and conducted a survey of Peachland dog owners. In the fall of 2013, the committee proposed a multi-year strategy to develop dog parks in Peachland.
