Swim Bay will fully reopen and lifeguards will be on duty on Thursday, August 24 until the end of the swim season on Sunday, August 27. Swim lessons will also restart.

The high dive and zipline in Swim Bay are closed to the public and swim lessons are cancelled until further notice due the ongoing wildfire emergency. The District of Peachland has temporarily relaxed its parking restrictions on Beach Avenue for evacuated Central Okanagan residents. Evacuees can access potable water, bathroom and shower facilities at the Peachland Community Centre, 4450 6th Street, open from 9 am to 5:30 pm. Peachland Emergency Preparations

Peachland, B.C. – The District of Peachland will be suspending lifeguarding at Swim Bay due to wildfire smoke and is temporarily relaxing its parking rule on Beach Avenue to allow overnight camping of evacuated Central Okanagan residents.

For safety reasons, lifeguarding of Swim Bay on Beach Avenue has been suspended due to wildfire smoke. The park remains open to the public as an unsupervised waterfront park. Caregivers must closely supervise their children.

The District will temporarily allow overnight parking on Beach Avenue for evacuated residents facing wildfire threat. Potable water fountains are available at the Peachland Community Centre, Swim Bay and Lambly Park.

I ask Peachlanders to keep informed and to abide by the messages sent from our emergency responders.
