August 28, 2021 - Highway 97 is CLOSED between Peachland and Summerland (from Callan Road and Okanagan Lake Provincial Park for 1.6 km to 1 km north of Summerland) after a rockslide occurred Monday, Aug. 28, 2023 at about 2 pm. Approximately 3,000 cubic metres of material came down onto Highway 97.
Detour routes are in place. Ministry staff and maintenance contractors will regularly patrol the detour to assist motorists if required.
Drivers using these detours should fuel up, bring extra supplies, food and water. Drivers are encouraged to plan trips during daylight hours and to drive with caution and watch for maintenance crews. Cell phone connectivity is likely to be sparse or not available.
