Forest Fuel Mitigation Project

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT

January 16, 2024

Forest Fuel Mitigation Project

Peachland, B.C. – Residents will notice activity in the forested area at the end of Sanderson Avenue this month as the District of Peachland conducts a fuel mitigation project.

The project on District-owned land is one of many prescribed in Peachland’s Community Wildfire Protection Plan, developed by a registered professional forester and approved by BC Wildfire Service.

The project is fully funded by the Community Resiliency Investment Program through the Union of BC Municipalities as part of the District’s FireSmart Program.

The work will be done by Cabin Resource Management with no burning; all material will be chipped and hauled away. Although Sanderson Park will not be closed during the work, residents are asked to respect posted signage and avoid areas where work is being done.

The project is beginning in January and is expected to extend into February. For more information, contact Peachland FireSmart at firesmart@peachland.ca.
