2024 Civic Grant Applications
The District of Peachland received 11 Civic Grant applications for a total request of $81,150. The following criteria is outlined in the policy:
  • Operating for a minimum of six months in the District of Peachland;
  • Based in the community;
  • Membership is from the District or surrounding areas;
  • Majority of the members are voting members;
  • Is in good standing with its licensing authority; and
  • At a minimum, has made application to the Central Okanagan Foundation and received a written response from them, or any other granting organization.
Council approved the following Civic Grant allocations, with limitations on gratis use, for 2024:
  • Peachland Watershed Protection Alliance - $1,000 plus requested gratis use
  • Peachland Ambassador Society - $8,000
  • Peachland Chamber of Commerce - $2,000 plus requested gratis use
  • Peachland Community Arts Council - $7,000
There has been discussion around the Civic Grant Policy/Process and the consideration of a different model to provide consistent funding to some community organizations while also starting to wean some grant recipients off of the program. This type of funding agreement will help both the District and community organizations with budgeting certainty going forward. Council directed Administration to enter into three-year funding agreements, to be ratified by Council, with the following community organizations:
  • Our Space (PCAC, BEEPS, OFSS)
  • Peachland Wellness Centre
  • Peachland Community Police
  • Peachland Historical Society
  • Peachland Fall Fair
Council further directed Administration to come back with a new draft Civic Grant Policy later this year.
