UPDATE: August 29, 2024
Princeton and Somerset Paving to Begin September 3
Peachland, B.C. – Repaving of Princeton and Somerset Avenues has been delayed slightly with the new start of construction to be Tuesday, September 3.
The District of Peachland is happy to be neighbourly and has agreed that Lafarge Canada Inc., its contractor for the paving projects, should first complete a new project in front of a school in another municipality for safety reasons.
Repaving work in Peachland is expected to begin Tuesday, September 3.
Traffic control will be set up at each intersecting road for the current section of work. Motorists can expect single lane alternating traffic for much of the project. Watch for barricades, cones, trucks, signboards and signs to direct traffic.
Traffic congestion and delays may occur due to construction and the start of school. Motorists are reminded to use extra caution when travelling through the work zone. The contractor has received an exemption to the District's noise bylaw and early morning construction noise may be heard.
Princeton Avenue will be repaved from Highway 97 to Maranatha Drive and Somerset Avenue will be repaved from Princeton Avenue to Gladstone Road.
Council applied $600,000 of the $2.7 million Growing Communities Fund grant the District received from the Provincial Government towards road remediation for 2024.
