Assent Voting 2022

There is a single assent vote (referendum) being conducted in conjunction with the 2022 Local Government Elections. It is in regards to borrowing funds for the proposed development of a Protective Services Building that will house the Fire Department. Only residents of the District of Peachland can vote in this referendum.

The assent vote is planned in conjunction with the Local Government Elections on October 15, 2022.

Assent Vote Question

At the July 26, 2022 Regular Council Meeting, Council approved the question for the upcoming voter assent process as:

"Are you in favour of the Corporation of the District of Peachland adopting the Protective Services Building Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 2364, 2022, to authorize the borrowing of up to Seventeen Million, Five Hundred Thousand Dollars ($17,500,000), over a thirty (30) year term, to fund the construction of a new Protective Services Building to accommodate the Fire Department?"

The associated loan authorization bylaw must be approved by the BC Inspector of Municipalities before it can be officially included on the ballot. The District of Peachland is awaiting this approval.
