HOW MUCH DO I PAY FOR A BUILDING PERMIT?

An application fee of $100 and an application deposit fee of $100 for projects with an estimated value of less than $200,000 and $500 for projects with an estimated value of over $200,000 is required. The application deposit is credited towards the fees for issuance of the building permit. So, to apply for a building permit, you are either paying $200 ($100 fee + $100 deposit) or $600 ($100 fee + $500 deposit).

The payment of the application fee and application deposit is to initiate the review of your application. If items are missing, the application may be sent back to you for re-submission.

• Please ensure your application is complete. If you submit an incomplete application it will slow down the processing of your application.
• Please submit your completed package all at once. If you submit it in a piecemeal manner this will slow down the processing of your application.

Remaining Building Permit fees are based on the estimate cost of construction including material and labour at market value. You can see the full list of Building Permit fees in Schedule 1 of the Development Application and Licence Fees Bylaw 2277
