Healthy Watersheds Committee

The Healthy Watersheds Committee is an advisory committee to Council. Its purpose is to provide advice and support to Council and staff on matters affecting the water quality and quantity in the Peachland Creek and Trepanier Creek watersheds. Mandate:

1. Undertake any projects assigned by Council;

2. Promote community awareness of watershed health;

3. Provide educational opportunities for the public, for example educational signage in key locations, how to report watershed abuse, encourage back country users to put out their fires;

4. 5. Sponsor meetings and events likely to encourage public discussion of community watershed issues;

5. Provide feedback to Council and staff on projects that could impact the community watersheds;

6. Work in co-operation with organizations and support initiatives that encourage the goals of developing and maintaining healthy watersheds;

7. Be sensitive to the fact that the community watersheds have many different uses, including forestry and mining activities, range use, recreational and camping uses.
