About Elizabeth Warrendorf:
- Elizabeth was born in Vancouver, BC on March 4, 1941. She became a Registered Lab Technician and later went on to obtain her B.Sc., a Master's and PhD in Bio Chemistry at McGill University. During her life, Elizabeth touched and inspired so many lives. She was the Peachland Brownie Leader for 10 years, spent 15 years as the town's representative on the Central Okanagan School Board and 2 terms (1988-1994) on Council as an Alderwoman in Peachland. She also spent time as chairperson on the Union Board of Health. In addition to her busy schedule, Elizabeth found time to be a loving family woman who enjoyed hobbies such as quilting, fishing, swimming and beachcombing. She passed away peacefully on March 17, 2002 at her home in Peachland.
During the course of finding history on Mrs. Warrendorf in our community, many recalled her as the "environmental conscience." Councilor Warrendorf was always interested in the implications council decisions would have on the environment, wildlife and nature.
This trail, dedicated to her name, recognizes Elizabeth Warrendorf's many years in public service, leadership and dedication to this community, province and the environment. Honoring Elizabeth with this trail is an appropriate gesture to remember a Councilor that was ahead of the times when it came to considering the environment.
