Definition
Fence: means a constructed vertical barrier of any material or combination of materials other than a retaining wall, erected to provide visual screening or prevent vehicular or pedestrian access. A fence does not include trees, a landscape bugger, a landscape screen, or a retaining wall.
Regulations
- Fence height is measured form the highest part of the fence to the point directly below where the fence post intersects with grade or the retaining wall.

- Fences along park boundaries in residential and rural zones shall be provided and maintained on the non-park lot along the boundary of the park to a maximum height of 1.22m (4.0 ft);
- Notwithstanding section 5.29, no fence, wall or similar structure in any residential Zone shall be constructed on a corner site at a street intersection, such that any portion is more than 1.0m (3.3 ft) above the established elevation of the centre point of intersecting streets unless the fence is constructed so that at least 80.0% of the total area of the fence is open , and in no case shall the height exceed 1.8m (6.0 ft).
- The use of barbed wire or electrified fencing is limited to Agricultural Zones were the lot is at least 0.4 ha (1.0 ac) in area.
- The use of barbed tape obstacle or razor wire as fencing material is prohibited in all zones.
- Where a fence, wall or similar structure is located on top of a retaining wall, the height of the fence shall be no greater than 1.22m (4.0 ft).
