Permanent Yard Waste Collection Site Closure

The yard waste collection site in Peachland is closed as of October 1, 2015.
There will be no public access after October 1st, 2015. Call the Operations office for more information at 250.767.2108.

Residential Yard Waste

All Peachland residents on municipal curbside garbage collection receive yard waste pick up every two weeks from March through December. See more on the yard waste bi-weekly curbside collection.

Here are some options for residents with extra yard waste:

    Transfer of excess yard waste
    Loads of residential yard waste can be dropped at the Westside Transfer Station on Asquith Road in West Kelowna. Hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The District of Peachland is a funding partner in this service. There is a fee for drop off. Yard Waste can also be taken to the Glenmore Landfill in Kelowna. There is a fee as well.

    Alternately, private collection companies will collect unlimited amounts of yard waste for a fee.

    Backyard composting
    Reduce your garbage and improve your garden. Twigs, grass and leaves can be combined with food waste to create rich compost. This Guide to Backyard Composting will give you more information.

    Add a larger green bin
    Add a larger green bin for $10/year or add a second cart for $30/year plus a one-time change fee of $55. To change the size of your yard waste cart or add another yard waste cart, click here for the form. Waste Cart Change Request. Mail or drop off the form to the Municipal Office at 5806 Beach Ave, Peachland, BC V0H 1X7 or call the Operations Department at 250-767-2108

    Grasscycle
    Leave grass clippings on the lawn when you mow. As they quickly decompose they return valuable nutrients back into the soil. By grasscycling you avoid raking, bagging and disposing of your grass clippings, saving more than a third of your time spent on lawn care.

    • This is the only active landfill for the Central Okanagan
