Mayor's Message - National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
September 30, 2025
On Tuesday, September 30, the District of Peachland will join Canadians in marking the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day honours the survivors of residential schools, remembers those who never returned home, and acknowledges the lasting harm caused by that system.
Reconciliation is not a single day—it’s the daily work of respect, listening, and learning. Peachland Council is committed to open, honest dialogue with our First Nation friends and neighbours, built on a foundation of trust and friendship.
This Orange Shirt Day, I encourage all Peachlanders to pause, reflect, and take action. By remembering this painful history and committing ourselves to understanding, we can help close the gaps and walk together toward healing.
Mayor Patrick Van Minsel
District of Peachland Offices will be closed in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Offices will reopen on Wednesday, October 1.
