Candidate Eligibility
To run for local government office in British Columbia, you must:
Be a Canadian citizen Be 18 years of age or older on General Voting Day Have lived in British Columbia for at least six months immediately before filing nomination papers Not be disqualified from holding office under the Local Government Act or any other enactment Campaign Financing and Election Advertising
Campaign financing, contribution limits, disclosure requirements, and election advertising rules are administered by Elections BC.
