The Peachland Fire Rescue's FireSmart Rebate Program has officially concluded for 2026 after all available grant funding was fully allocated.
The Fire Department is extremely pleased with the strong response from residents and the number of property owners who took advantage of the program to complete FireSmart improvements. Rebates for approved work of up to $1,000 were provided after wildfire mitigation specialist conducted an assessment and made recommendations.
Wildfire preparedness remains one of Peachland's highest priorities, particularly as the region continues to experience prolonged drought and elevated wildfire risk. Every property that has been FireSmarted contributes to reducing the potential spread and intensity of wildfire, helping protect lives, homes, and emergency responders.
Peachland Fire Rescue Service thanks all residents who participated in the program and encourages everyone to continue FireSmart activities around their homes, even without a rebate. Simple actions such as removing dead vegetation, maintaining defensible space, and choosing fire-resistant landscaping can make a significant difference in reducing wildfire risk.
While the 2026 rebate program has ended, the District will continue to pursue future funding opportunities that support wildfire resilience whenever possible.
